Creating Assignments

Faith Teams Assignments are instructions you can create and assign to users in the system.  Assignments have due dates and status associated with them.

Assignments are found under Tools on the Faith Teams menu bar.  Once there, you can see a lists of current assignments.

To create a new assignment, click on the blue “+” in the upper right hand corner of the screen.  From here you can populate a new assignment.

Below are the key items to populate for a new Assignment:

1. Assignment Type

  • What It Is:
    • The type of task being assigned.
  • Examples:
    • Hospital Visit
    • Guest Phone Call
    • Mail a Card

When creating an assignment, choosing an appropriate type helps categorize the task for better organization and tracking.


2. Title

  • What It Is:
    • A concise name for the assignment.
  • Why It Matters:
    • The title provides a clear and immediate understanding of what the task is about.
  • Examples:
    • “Visit John Doe at Mercy Hospital”
    • “Call Jane Smith, Sunday Guest”
    • “Send a Birthday Card to Sarah Johnson”

3. Details

  • What It Is:
    Additional information or instructions related to the assignment.
  • Why It Matters:
    Providing detailed information ensures the person assigned has everything they need to complete the task.
  • Examples:
    • For a hospital visit: “Bring flowers and pray with the family.”
    • For a guest phone call: “Call Jane at 555-123-4567 and thank her for visiting.”
    • For mailing a card: “Include a handwritten note of encouragement.”

4. Assigned To

  • What It Is:
    The individual responsible for completing the task.
  • Requirements:
    • The assignee must be listed in your People section.
    • The assignee must have an email on file to receive notifications.
  • Why It Matters:
    Assigning tasks to specific individuals ensures accountability and provides clear communication regarding responsibilities.

5. Status

  • What It Is:
    The current progress of the assignment.
  • Status Options:
    • Pending: Task has been assigned but not started.
    • In Progress: Task is underway.
    • Completed: Task has been finished.
  • Why It Matters:
    Tracking the status helps you monitor progress and identify overdue tasks.

6. Due Date

  • What It Is:
    The deadline for completing the task.
  • Why It Matters:
    • Helps prioritize tasks and manage timelines.
    • If the task is not completed by the due date, it will appear as overdue on the Assignments screen.
